England have played New Zealand 36 times – England winning only 7 matches, while New Zealand have 28 victories and just one draw. The very first test in December 1905 at Crystal Palace saw the visitors winning 15-0. The All Blacks’ biggest margin against England was in 1998 winning 64-22. England’s best result came in 2012 when they won 38-21.

The countries have competed in this fixture for the Hillary Shield (the inaugural fixture was 2008). The trophy was named after Kiwi mountaineer, Sir Edmund Hillary to recognise close links between the two countries.
