Leicester City, the 5000-1 outsiders back in August, were crowned Premier League Champions last weekend and in the end won the league quite comfortably.
According to the bookmakers there was more chance of David Cameron becoming the next Aston Villa than there was of Leicester winning the league. At the start of the season Chelsea were the odds on favourites to win the league again at the beginning of the season but they ended up mid table and sacked Jose Mourinho whilst second favourites Man City only just managed to cling on to a Champions League place.
Tottenham had a great season and with a core of young English players should improve next season. Their manager, Mauricio Pochettino, signing a new contract is a huge boost for the club and with the new stadium only a couple of years away it’s exciting times at Tottenham.
Arsenal, who have been heavily criticised this season, ended up finishing second which may quietened some of Arsene Wenger’s critics.
Manchester United, despite spending a fortune in the summer, have had a poor season failing to quality for the Champions League but have reached the FA Cup Final although whether this is enough for Louis Van Gaal to keep his job is to be seen.
Bournemouth and Watford, who were both predicted to find the going tough, had a great season with neither being involved in a relegation battle. Norwich, the other promoted team, have been relegated along with Aston Villa who showed little fight all season and Newcastle who lost out to their bitter rivals Sunderland in the bid to stay up.
Newcastle are now trying to convince their manager Rafa Benitez to stay. The Spaaniard started the season managing Real Madrid at the Bernabeu and now may end up in the Championship.
All that leaves this season is the FA Cup Final at Wembley between Crystal Palace and Manchester United and the Champions League Final between the two Madrid clubs, Real and Atletico.
