Arsenal History, Honours and Rivalries

Arsenal were formed in 1886 and play their home games at the Emirates Stadium in north London which holds just over 60,000 people.

They played at Highbury from 1913 until 2006 when the moved to the state-of-the-art Emirates stadium which offers some fantastic hospitality packages including private boxes and shared restaurant hospitality packages.

They are one of the most successful English clubs of all times and have won thirteen league titles, fourteen FA Cups, two League Cups and the European Cup Winners Cup. They have reached the Champions League final losing to Barcelona.

Their two most successful periods were in the 1930s when they won five league championships and between 1989 and 2005, they won five league titles and five FA Cups including two doubles.

Arsene Wenger was their most successful manager and the longest serving, he was also the manager when they went on their 49-game unbeaten run between 2003 and 2004. This team was known as the Invincibles.

Arsenal are currently owned by the American Stan Kroenke who has been criticised by the current fans due to a lack of investment in the team.

Their main rivals are Tottenham Hotspur, who also play in north London. They have played each other close to two hundred times and Arsenal have the most victories. Some of the biggest matches were in 1971 when Arsenal won the league at White Hart Lane and in 1991 when Tottenham won the FA Cup semi-final. The greatest number of goals in a north London fixture is nine goals which occurred in 2004 when Arsenal beat Tottenham 5-4. Harry Kane, with eleven goals, has scored the most goals in North London derbies.
